
Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s aviation sector through strategic international partnerships following a high-level meeting with a delegation from Etihad Airways.
The delegation, led by Etihad Airways’ Senior Vice President, Aeropolitical, International and Government Affairs, Captain Khalid Humaid Al Ali, held discussions with the lawmaker on expanding aviation cooperation, enhancing bilateral relations and unlocking investment opportunities capable of accelerating the growth of Nigeria’s aviation industry. Also present at the meeting were Chief of Staff to Senator Kalu, High Chief Barr Emeka Nwala, Commissioner representing Enugu State at Federal Character Commission, Hon. Peter Eze, Personal Assistant to the Senator , Mrs Ugochi Okoroafor, Alhaji Aminu Shehu, Harrison Ogu and a host of other delegates.
Speaking after the meeting, Kalu described the engagement as productive and timely, noting that strategic collaboration with leading global aviation stakeholders remains critical to Nigeria’s ambition of becoming a major investment destination and an international connectivity hub.
According to the former Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, the discussions focused on establishing mutually beneficial partnerships that would strengthen aviation ties between Nigeria and Etihad Airways while creating new opportunities for economic growth and sectoral development.
”As Nigeria continues to position itself as a major hub for investment and international connectivity, engagements such as this remain vital in building mutually beneficial relationships with global industry leaders,” Kalu stated.
He commended Captain Khalid Humaid Al Ali and the Etihad Airways delegation for what he described as a fruitful engagement, expressing optimism that the dialogue would pave the way for deeper collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The Senator further reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote investment, improve infrastructure and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global aviation industry, stressing that sustained partnerships with international operators remain essential to achieving long-term economic development.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s engagement with key global partners and attract investments capable of driving sustainable growth across critical sectors of the economy.
