Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Saturday facilitated a strategic engagement between the Great Lekki Ikoyi Fitness Club (Igboezue) and the Lagos State Government, as he introduced members of the association to the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Among those in attendance were Barr. Neya Kalu, Publisher of The Sun Newspapers; Hon. Peter Eze, Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission; and several other prominent personalities from across the country.
The meeting, held in Lagos, provided an opportunity for members of the club predominantly made up of South-East professionals and entrepreneurs resident in Lagos to interact with the Deputy Governor, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 governorship candidate.
Speaking after the meeting, Kalu described the interaction as a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between the South-East community and the Lagos State Government, noting that it reflected the enduring values of unity, inclusiveness and national cohesion.
The international business mogul said the cordial engagement reinforced the need for stronger partnerships among Nigerians across ethnic and regional divides in pursuit of sustainable development and nation-building.
The lawmaker expressed optimism that the relationship between the Great Lekki Ikoyi Fitness Club and the Lagos State Government would continue to flourish, anchored on mutual respect, shared prosperity and collective progress.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to maintain greater cooperation between government and socio-cultural organisations in advancing peace, development and inclusive governance in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
