The Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation has launched its “Back to School” initiative in collaboration with Frantino Multipurpose Service Limited, SunBet, and Xpressride, targeting 100 schools across Abia North. Through the distribution of school bags and writing materials, the foundation aims to strengthen basic education and combat illiteracy by supporting primary school pupils with essential learning tools.
According to the Executive Secretary, Mr. Ekeoma Ogwo, the initiative aligns with the foundation’s broader mission of empowering Nigerians through education, agriculture, healthcare, and humanitarian services. He emphasized that the campaign is designed to improve access to quality education and provide students with a safe and conducive learning environment, reflecting the organization’s long-term strategy for educational development.
As the foundation’s team visited schools such as Igbere Central School, Lohum Imenyi Central school, Township school Ozuakoli, Ovim Community School, Umuhu Ezechi Community School Bende and others on Day 1 of the Outreach, the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude and reaffirmed their dedication to their studies. The five-day outreach will not only eased the financial burden on parents but also strengthened the bond between the foundation, students, and teachers, fostering a sense of community support.
By targeting 100 schools, the “Back to School” campaign stands out as a significant intervention capable of inspiring similar efforts across Nigeria. Coupled with the foundation’s holistic approach spanning education, healthcare, and agricultural support, the initiative has the potential to create a sustainable ecosystem that enables students to thrive academically and personally, ultimately contributing to a brighter future for children in Abia North and beyond.
