The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lambasted the Umuehim Nvosi faction of the Labour Party for resorting to what it described as “cowardly personal attacks” on Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, daring the group to face him squarely on issues rather than hide behind innuendos.
In a fiery statement issued on behalf of the party, the Abia APC Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, tore into the faction for failing to respond to the substantive governance questions raised by the former governor during his recent outing in Igbere.
”Ordinarily, we would ignore faceless and fragmented groups whose legitimacy INEC does not recognize. But when they trade statesmanship for insults, we are compelled to put them in check,” Aguoru declared.
He accused the “Nvosi faction” of avoiding the real issues Kalu’s expose on the skyrocketing cost of education in Abia, the poor welfare of lecturers in state-owned tertiary institutions, and the neglect of teachers at primary and secondary levels.
”Instead of defending Governor Otti’s record on these fronts, the Umuehim Nvosi group chose to attack Kalu’s person and family. That is the refuge of cowards with nothing to show for their principal’s performance,” he charged.
The APC spokesman also threw weight behind Kalu’s warning on the rising wave of political violence and thuggery in Abia a development he linked to inflammatory rhetoric from the Otti camp.
”These are not personal grievances. These are red alerts from a statesman who has governed this state before. To dismiss them as ‘fear’ is not only reckless but deeply unpatriotic,” Aguoru added.
The party then fired a fresh salvo at the Labour Party faction, insisting that Abians will hold them accountable in 2027.
”We are coming for all three senatorial seats, all seven House of Reps seats, all 24 State Assembly seats, and the Government House in Umuahia. We will send them back to the studios because governance is not about content creation, it is about delivery,” Aguoru said.
Concluding with a direct challenge, Aguoru dared the faction to abandon personal attacks and face Kalu and the APC on the issues.
”Senator Kalu raised the facts. Let them respond with facts. Let them show Abians one new road Otti built that was not started by Kalu or Ikpeazu. Let them show us how much Abia teachers are now earning. Until they do, their insults are merely noise.”
