Former Governor of Abia State and business leader, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has disclosed details of high-level discussions held with Chinese billionaire and GCL Group Chairman, Mr. Zhu Gongshan, alongside Africa’s richest industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, at the iconic Dangote Refinery in Lagos.
In a statement made available to the press, Senator Kalu revealed that the strategic meeting focused on advancing Nigeria’s renewable energy ambitions, building on the framework agreement signed earlier this year between Swiber Africa and GCL.
”I visited the iconic Dangote Refinery in Lagos today with Chinese billionaire, Mr Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of GCL Group, where we held fruitful discussions on advancing our renewable energy ambitions alongside Alhaji Aliko Dangote,” Kalu told journalists.
The former governor outlined the key areas of collaboration, stating that the delegation explored ways to fast-track solar and wind projects across the country. He also revealed plans for the strategic development of Nigeria’s lithium resources, positioning the nation to benefit from the global shift toward clean energy.
”Our discussions focused on creating jobs locally and bringing vital technology transfers to strengthen Nigeria’s energy independence,” Kalu said.
Emphasizing the importance of international cooperation, the former Abia governor stressed that sustainable growth requires strategic partnerships.
”True progress comes from strong, win-win partnerships by harnessing global expertise alongside our rich resources for sustainable growth,” he added.
The meeting, which brought together Nigerian political and business leadership with one of China’s foremost energy industrialists, signals growing international interest in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector and its vast solid mineral resources.
Recall that Senator Kalu has previously attracted a cashew processing and tricycle assembling industries in Igbere, Abia North which is worth over $500,000,000 and several other industries that are absorbing the Nigerian youthful workforce.
The International business mogul concluded his remarks on an optimistic note, urging Nigerians to “Keep Hope Alive” as the nation pursues its energy transformation agenda.
